Duiker is an antelope. 

Unlike its spelling it is pronounced dīker(The e in this case is pronounced like a schwa, the schwa sound is like the sound of the 'a' in banana.) or you can pronounced the first part with a long a instead of a long i. (Like this: dāker, e acts like a schwa)

Hi there! Let's learn some roots! Today's Root of The Day is DOLICH-/DOLICHO-  Dolich-/Dolicho- is a Greek root that simply means long/narrow. [Pronounced: dah-li-koh] Here are a few example words: Dolichoid[dah-li-koid] is an adjective that means tending to be long or narrow.  Example: Izzy's delicious banana was dolichoid . (Note: Latin -oid means resembling) Dolichuric[dah-luh-kyur-ik) is an adjective that means having a redundant(exceeding what is normal) syllable.
